Grado carts. sound good, BUT there is their vulnerability to hum pickup. Also, Grados have a reputation for working best in arms that are somewhat massive.

Where did you get that information from? Grado works better in a low to medium mass arm not a massive one. I've used different Grados for over thirty years and never had a hum problem with any table that I've used with them.
Count your blessings! A Grado cart. on a TT with an unshielded AC motor is unpleasant. :> ( Been there done that.
The so called Grado dance is another possible problem area.
Don't get me wrong. I like the Grado sound. However, as is so often the case, "leg work" has to be done or a poor result is obtained.
