I see a sale on Analog FM receivers and tuners

Norway has public broadcasting with five channels of programming and a fair number of listeners using digital radio (DAB) already. Five channels will become 42.
Commercial broadcasting in the US is entirely different - "If something is free, YOU'RE the product being sold". Do you think broadcasters would give up ANY of the product (listeners) without a fight? Even if the current (IBOC) digital modulation is used, listeners are in the single digits right now. Would digital conversion free any spectrum for other uses? Not likely.
It seems to me that advertising (money) has been trashing, one by one, all our public entertainment technologies. I know there are several factors involved. But it's basically over advertising time. AM radio, with it's difficult reception compounded by a ton of commercials, it's no wonder the public RAN to FM.Then when FM (at least in my area) became a waste land of commercials and the SAME top 40 songs playing for 40+ years - again - it's no wonder the public just tuned out. And the Disc Jockeys moved onto Satellite radio.
And just DON'T get me started on cable and satellite TV. Another medium the is RAPIDLY withering away like some commercial ridden AM station. Rapidly being replaced by streaming programming. And it's coming faster they even THEY anticipated.

I'm sorry, I don't see the connection.
look a little closer. advertising/money/more advertising/more money. Money Money Money. I think the asshole with the most when he dies wins some prize or something....
Automobile manufacturers will love it. Another way to make your car obsolete. Every body will have to go buy the current model.
