Good Day,
Like many of you I have collected equipment for years. As most of you have many valuable skills and knowledge with these wonderful pieces of equipment I do not. I have been fortunate enough to use the expertise of some wonderful technical artists.
Reaching my 65 birthday it has finally sunk in to my vintage brain NO ONE in my family shares the lure of vintage stereo equipment. Which means its time to down size.
I've stared with two pieces of equipment that has similar issues. Both haven't been used for many years and are both in good physical condition.
Here is where your expertise comes in.
Kenwood 600. Right speaker output is intermittent. When I giggle the speaker select switch I have partial sound from the right side. I'm armed with a fresh can of Deoxit I'm not sure where to spray once I've removed the top cover by the switch.
Mcintosh 1900 reciever. No sound on/off switch. Dirty contact? Broken switch?
I would appreciate any advice on giving it a shot! (Pun intended)
Thanks

What you want to do is spray INTO the body of the switch. So you want to look for an opening somewhere. Get the straw as close as you can. Sometimes it is from the top with the cover open, sometimes you have to take off the bottom. Give it a quick spray and work the control many times. Sometimes you will feel the control loosen up a bit. Let it sit for a minute or so then give it a try. It may take another spray or two to get it fully cleaned, but don't turn it on while you have anything 'wet' with the spray.
good luck

I think on the pieces he is talking about everything pretty open, (although I have never worked on a Kenwood integrated). However sometimes you have to make an opening. Some pots and switched are not savable and you have to replace them.

A quick google shows the Kenwood pots are accessible from the top. Just remove the cover.
