Looks about 80% vintage. I rebuilt the VM PP 6AQ5. It does not have a phono amp though. As for other inexpensive amps & receivers the over looked Bogen with the PP 6V6s (7408) are excellent plus have a phono stage.

Its in decent enough shape. The writing is more worn on the face than Id care to have been dealt. Oh well...
I recently came upon a good half dozen 6gh8 tubes. When I have it rebuilt Ill just have the 7199 sockets rewired for these.
Yeah for a 6v6 PP amp the outputs are a bit small than Id care for. But I watched the few youtube vids of this amp in action the bass seemed ok. All of which I think are pre rebuild status.
Yeah Im a bogen fan thanks to a couple of builders I used. Have some bogen amps that were rebuilt or transformers pulled and made into an amp. Great gear IMO.
Should be a wonderful little amp!
I rebuilt the receiver version of your amplifier. Frankly I preferred the Bogen to a rebuilt VM. The owner of both also preferred the Bogen sonics.
Very nice.
Any tips or advice for the rebuild? Im all ears!
As always if you care to share, I know I and others would love to see pics of the work done.
BTW youve made it abundantly clear your love for the 6060 :)
I have a rebuilt original 1120. Original outputs with its cap coupled design. Great warm sounding amp. Sony has quite the strong following from this era. Along with nearly every other LOL.
I think you, like Mike did for the sherwood 5000, have single handedly made the price of the 6060 rise a bit ;)
Thanks for any info.
I was on a quest for the best sounding SS receiver a few years ago. Far from a large group of vintage receivers, but the STR-6060FW was best of the lot. Honorable mention was a Sansui G-6000. A stock Fisher 400 did sound better vs the STR-6060FW except for bass definition. After mods the Fisher 400 went from ok to the stratosphere.
I have a penchant for Fisher iron myself.
Used the 400 iron for my Push/pull 45.
Used the 500C for my Triode 807.

If you ever get a chance, try Kyocera. They made a fantastic receiver. D
