Since you mentioned early solid state, I happen to have a JBL SA660, which was SOTA at the time. It is one of the most beautiful pieces of audio kit that I have seen, both inside and out. They used to sell for quite a bit of money, but I don't think they are as valuable now. Mine is all original, but I have been considering getting it up and running to drive my JBL L110, with their beautiful and rebuilt alnico woofers. Since it has oil caps it might not be that difficult. It will need filter caps, diodes and possibly some out of spec resistors. What do you think?

.. most auctions I've watched since I decided I'd like to have one to drive my Heathkit Lancer 99-clones usually end up at or plus $1000, there's one on the 'Bay now for $1800 OBO.
It IS super-cool-looking, but I've got too many projects to bring in a piece I can afford, and I don't want to afford the ones that don't need work - for that kind of change, I'd go for something like a late-model McIntosh, a Threshold Stasis, or a Citation II core. Obviously, though, I'm not a well-financed, obsessive JBL or MidCentury collector ;)
We will have to see what he gets. If I can unload it for big bucks, I will, but If it keeps sitting on the shelf staring at me ... For something like this, finding the right buyer is the problem if I decide to sell it. I think the right buyers are all in Japan! If I do decide to get it working, I will keep it as original as possible. Right now, I am working on my dryer!
