Hi, 9Iron had some real good advise on finishing vintage faceplates, his shown were H.H.Scotts. He mentioned some thing about re-lettering.I guess my question is how and where would you go to get a faceplate re-lettered. Also, does anyone know anything about etching or engraving? Thanks, would love to know more about this....Mark Korda
Follow Ups:
Curiously I was at A.C. Moore and saw a Silkscreen Kit for $39.98
I plan to buy this so I can silkscreen my custom DIY amps.
But this may also work well for Vintage faceplates.
Next time I visit I will pick up this made in North Carolina kit, as I believe replacement ink and photosensitive chemicals should be orderable (not made in China).
I looked on the A.C. Moore web site but could not find it, they don't have a search function.
Stay tuned....
Tubes rule!
Mark here you go.
Hi Satx, thanks for the tip.I saw that site before and every one and all the others want that guy to do face plates but he is steadfast to concentrate on Marantz receivers. I kind of want to know how it's done kind of thing. Thanks for the reply...Mark Korda
Try contacting RadioDaze. They made another tuner dial for my Marantz 18. Did a GREAT job and it was surprisingly cheap. As audio goes! I know they silk screen radio dials, faceplates, etc,
Email them. At least that is a start.
Hey Airtime, thanks I'll check it out...Mark.
Again, they did a great job reproducing (skilk screen with original colors) my Marantz 18 dial plate.
Post their reply. I would be interested if they can do my Sherwood????
Guy over on AK makes replacement faceplates for Vintage Marantz. TMR I want to say his username is?
Mike Samra posted a pic of the work here when I shared it with him. Stunning work, black or red, laser etched, work of art.
Look it up here, just great.
Dave
