Another question-specifically for Michael Samra, and anyone else who has done this conversion; how do these amps compare, and how do they differ sonically with a properly done Cit II?
Follow Ups:
You can do these without a scope but I would do the HF60 Gilespie mod which is the same amp for the most part.
These are very good amps when properly redone.I use a 100% film cap power supply because on these amps or at least off the GZ34..
Comparing these to a Citation 2 is this..The Eico's are more tube like in sonic nature and the Deuce leans more on the accurate side and a little less tubey.

Hi Michael. I hate to hijack a thread so Ill make it short and sweet. A user over at AudioKarma told me you might be able to help me out. I recently aquired a Sherwood S-5000 amp, its the older 20 + 20 Stereo Amplifier with the 7189 output tubes. I really like this amp! Anyhow I would like to get a little service done to it to bring it back to good tonal quality. Its sounds ok now but I would like to know if it needs to be updated, caps and resistors etc. Also what is the best tube combination or anything else I might be missing. Anyhow Ill let you respond at my email address which is unvmy69rs@sbcglobal.net . Many thanks...Marc
