What amazes me is the prices they get for new vinyl. I think it may be more of a fad than a trend........I'll just keep with CDs until they become relics.......and I was one of the last people to buy a CD - didn't buy my first one until '89.
Follow Ups:
Indeed, CD sales really didn't kick into high gear until around 1989.
Lot's of people were still buying vinyl and mostly cassettes in the 80s.
I had an ultra-conservative, timorous friend who didn't buy CD's until the 90s.
It was only in 1989, I beleive, that the industry actually stopped producing vinyl, and went fully to CD's. Until then, record stores were stuffed with vinyl.
Indeed, until about 1988-89, CD's weren't even that widely available, and for many titles, you had to find a specialized CD shop in order to buy them.
I switched from vinyl to CDs in 1995 and am still spinning CDs. I am planning to go back to vinyl (at least partially) in another 10 years or so though.
