Ok Guys. This is the VINTAGE ASYLUM. I am asking about the Bose vintage stuff. Everyone already knows the Wave radio is the shit for tin ear types. Anyone know anything about their vintage stuff?
Follow Ups:
the rich kids had them. I remember having some good parties with them screaming in the background. Even then I had a feeling they were pretty average.

Since this is an electronics post. The Equalizer for the 901 has always been a bone of contention - described as "Adequate" to "Terrible". I should note that (gosh, seven years ago) I set up a system of Five 901's (latest version) in a custom home theater using Crown DSP correction power amplifiers driving them. The sound was pretty amazing - though I also used two subwoofers, so the 901's were HP @ 80 Hz.
Because of their full range design, they were actually quite easy to set up. Easier than a typical multi-way horn/sub design. The center speaker was the most difficult - I almost used it "turned around" , which looked pretty cool.

Oh, the 901s could sound very good when set up wide and away from walls. Kind of a lit-up quality that was very enjoyable for a while. I have no idea what they sounded like in homes, because I worked for a dealer at the time and that is the only place I heard them.
I recall that a customer came in who was a recently minted Ph.D. from MIT, where Amar Bose was on the faculty. He was a committed Bose customer, and wouldn't hear of anything else besides the 901.
To round out the system he bought a McIntosh C28, an MC2105, a Thorens TD125 fitted with a Rabco straight-line arm and a Shure V-15 III.
I helped him carry it out to his car, an old VW bug. Guy had his priorities in the right order, I thought at the time.
Come to think of it, that was the only pair of 901s we sold.
The Flagships were useful to sell the lower models. It was the same when I sold hifi!
