does anyone have a chemical formula, like WD-40, Armor-all, etc., that can revitalize old 2-wire power cords as found on old Scotts, Fishers, etc? thanks

how do you folks deal with the chassis? Most replacement cords are somewhat thicker than the originals, and it's very difficult to remove the original "pinch" without damaging it. It seems sketchy to just leave the cord loose going through the hole, what do you folks do?

and there is a specific tool for them, and yes at $50 that is pricey. However, I just found a chinese one for $6 shipped, so I am good to go!
Replace them with new cord. It's available in home supply stores. Really a better and safer way to do them. That old insulation is dried and cracked, why take a chance.
Not to be rude, just looking out for your welfare.

I know some collectors want to keep a unit 100% stock however if it is to be used safely replacing the power cord is wise.
however most of these line cords have a plasticizer that is drying out, replacing that plasticizer can revitalize the cords and make them just as flexible as new, or so I have been told...
but he definitely should replace the cords because the wires oxidize inside the insertion and turn green when they crack.

Replace the old cracked and unsafe cable with a new three conductor cable and ground the green lead to the chassis. The unit will be safe and quiet.
