Looks too pristine and complete to screw with. Go through the unit and get it up and running and enjoy it. Many consoles are in such poor condition the cost to restore makes it a toss up. This is not the case here.

I am all for preserving the historical aspects of the system, but I would never put a treasured record on that record chisel of a turntable!

You don't know the half of it. I own 2 old Webcors, and I've got a lifetime of experience with consoles, "portables", and all other non-component-grade "phonographs".
They'll rip your vinyl to shreds. Instant, and progressive, irreverable groove damage.
I've still got some records left from long ago that were damaged by this lo-fi console crap. Think about it: these tone arms had no counterweight. The full poundage of the heavy, steel tone arm, and the nail-like cartridge were brought to bear upon soft, vinyl grooves. It's insane.
I was kidding!
