I believe this is the second time this party has posted the unit. Make him a reasonable offer, all he can do is decline. And all the better if you are within reasonable driving distance.

This is not the S-5000 version we commonly discuss on the AA. It's a great unit but not the spectacular unit that we frequently gloat about which are the 7189/EL84 S-5000 amps.
This amp does not have Ultra linear output transformers and it uses 7868 output tubes and it has only a four tube preamp as opposed to the five tube in the 7189 version.
It's a great unit and well worth money but it just doesn't sound as pure as the 7189 version IMHO.

I completely agree. I had one of the 7868 units, and it would never sound as good as the 7189 version. The output iron was not very big for the wattage, the power supply had a really weird configuration of cap cans, with some common positive and even a paper covered can floated from ground. Not the cheapest thing to rebuild. I never did get mine to sound that good either. Of course, at the time there were no good options for 7868 - I had a NOS quad of GE 7868, and when I was offered $400 for the quad (in like 1999) I sold the tubes and abandoned the amp.
I always wanted to try and rebuild it with some other output tube, but the chassis was so height restricted, I never could figure out how.

The pos ground cap is the negative bias and phono tube DC filament power supply cap pretty much like the 7189 version but a different placement..All I do is use muse caps and ground the positive terminal. What I'm thinking of doing when I get home after the 1st of the year is think about implementing the Scott LK72 circuit driving the 7868s.That will probably make it more focused and pure I would guess.
