One here for the marantz gurus. My 2270 is at long last being refurbished-by none other than our very own henrybasstardo- and I have a question about the gyro thingie flywheel dial. Last time I used it was very stiff, that is it didn't spin easily so it took a lot of little spins to change stations. It isn't supposed to be that way, right?

In addition, Be sure not to get any oil on the string!
I have some grundigs where the grease on the tuning cap had hardened and required removal, cleaning and re-lubing. be sure to get an accurate diagram
of the tuning string config before you do anything. Clean and the flywheel and tuning, string , clean all the other components (pulleys) too>
No, it's supposed to be as smooth as silk. I bought one new in '74, and you could spin it and it wouldn't stop until it went half-way down the dial. First thing I would do is carefully lubricate all of the usual parts. Be VERY careful NOT to get any lubricant on the plates of the am/fm tuning cap.

Ok,what lube or grease should be used? Obviously something that won't ''travel'' to where it doeesn't belong as well as remains fluid enough.
