I wonder if Heyboer could reproduce the HK Cit II OPT... I bet they could sell a bunch if they did.

Why don't you ask them? It would be interesting to see what price they gave you.
IIRC our old friend Pak Protector tried getting it done a few years ago, but I don't believe he ever was able to get one made.
FWIW, I recall Doug going after various Peerless iron inc. the 16431 as in the Heath W6 (arguably a worthy competitor to the C-II iron). Mike Lefevre didn't appreciate these efforts and Heyboer ended up in an uncomfortable situation as a result. Doug attempted to allay Mike's concerns by making a group project out of a reproduction of the S265Q IIRC. The plan was to have Heyboer wind the coils and provide the lams which we would then stack and vacuum impregnate. I was interested and contacted Doug directly about participating but nothing ever came of it. Most of this activity occurred on another forum so not much here to search out.
In the end, it seems Heyboer is glad to reproduce onesie-twosies of just about anything within limits of material availability (i.e. no nickel lams) but won't do quantities of "protected" designs. Not sure if there's anthing special about C-II OPT materials so maybe it could be reproduced. Has anyone inquired about this?
Steve
you are correct in your assessment about the W6 iron being a worthwhile competitor to the Cit 2 iron..You are also correct in what went on with the competition and Heyboer is winding me a pair of S-271 OPTs and I'm getting some nickel lams as we speak. There is a stack of 10 or 15 that go in the center but neither Heyboer nor Magnequest put them in unless you can score the nickel lams as they are hard to get in smaller quantities.I don't know if Magnequest uses them now or not in the larger iron but my guess is they don't except upon special request and availability.

...in small quantities??!!! The only way I've been able to do that is by scavenging bad 16309s from W5s. ;-)
