how much would it cost if you branched out and made other faceplates. What would be a rough cost to fabricate a plate from scratch? And don't forget some profit, you deserve it!!!
I realize this is a VERY highly specialized market. But if a company can sell a single capacitor for $300, then I'm sure you could sell a facepalte for several hundred as well.
Most likely a lot of plates would be a "one off". But heck, you may be dealing with some hard core audio people here!!!!

Here is a place that will make any panel you design. They supply free software for the design. I have had several panels made, and they cost around $50 each.
Sweet!
Very cool! You could put your name on the faceplate!

Thanks for the post. As of right now I really am only doing Marantz. The cost varies on the size of the plate and the amount of cut out. My laser cutter charges me by the second. Plates do look very simple to do but there's a lot involved. I could never just do a one off. Every company I work with has a minimum of amount of time and material or they just won't do it. None of these companies are small and they don't want to take on any little projects they have minimums or they just won't work with it. I have a minimum amount of material I have to buy, I have a minimum amount of laser time I have to pay for, there's a minimum amount of material to be brushed, anodize will only run a minimum amount of product, screen printer or laser etching has a minimum amount artwork and product that they will run, it's always best to buy all my boxes and packaging materials in bulk.
So for me a one off just won't work. Thanks. A good post and question though. Tony
