I can safely say with Mcintosh it will not as long as you are making it for out of production vintage gear and you make it clear that you make the product and not Mcintosh.I think you would do well on Scott 299s and Fisher 500c receivers as there are tons of both..If you could redo a sherwood S-5000 in the red or the original pearl white and gold, that would be successful as well.

Don't forget Dynaco.
They made a gazillion PAS 2 & 3, and PAT 4 & 5. They were some kind of plain Jane ugly!
I don't know about the Sherwood S-5000, as not many colors go well with that cheesy gold trim.....

That cheesy gold trim is actually 24 ct plating per their literature. I have compared the color to my 23 ct wedding band and I think it is closer to maybe 20.
I was thinking about various colors but either going with the original white but a harder coating or the none painted plate of the S9500, S3300, etc. that has the same design but not painted and for me looks just fine in my system. It is not as contrasty, obviously.

Regarding the pearl white Sherwood; Agreed.
I would like a anodized aluminum pearl white face plate with black or chocolate brown writing.
My two Sherwood pieces are still in nice shape so not a big deal.
Those are some snazzy face plates Mike posted though.

Long ago I wrote that if someone made repro S3000, S5000II and S5500 plates would likely sell out pretty quickly. The S7700 would have to need substantially more expensive while the S8000 not quite as much. The wear on these makes them look terrible while a pristine one does not look dated or ugly. Then if someone would make repro knobs as so many have become discovered due to age.
Almost any of the copper or brass plates from everyone could benefit from being replaced or against least someone make a lettering overlay.

Wonder what the black faceplate would look like if the 19 was in it's wood cabinet. Hmmm.
He does good work though. Not many options if you have a unit with a damaged faceplate.
Here's my guy...
Can't imagine it would look bad. The makers model 19 with black face looks great!
