I rescued a Harman Kardon 330C receiver from the dumpster, and after a bit of contact cleaner, it all seems to work. One obvious issue, though, is the signal strength meter, which is stuck at about its midpoint. When turning the tuning knob, the voltage that's applied to the meter changes, so I think it's a mechanical problem.
From looking around over at AudioKarma, it appears this is a common problem with these receivers. As a project for this winter, I think I'll tackle fixing it - opening up the meter and seeing if there's something obvious (or maybe even just crud in the bearings).
But before I dive in, I was wondering if anyone here has any tips.
Thanks!

In my experience, it's probably a broken pivot. If I'm right, your only chance, (as far as I know) is to somehow find a donor meter to repair or replace it. Good luck.
