Dated 1959. I did not realize they used the wood horn that late.?

It's actually a "composite". The vertical walls you see in the pic are plywood. The top and bottom are a fiberglass reinforced resin of some sort. Probably made this way because the walls can be made flat while the complicated part of the flare is taken care of with the plastic parts.
Love those PCB filled caps in the xover. Vintage K-Horns are hazardous to your health in multiple ways ;-)
The K5 is a great horn especially for vintage. My friend has a pair of mahaogany khorns with k5's. I enjoy hearing them.

yeah, this one has a j on it (K-5-J) whats up with that?
July 25th, 1952
The original K-5-H high frequency horn of the patent was modified to become the K-5-J. This involved changing the vertical taper so that the dividers ("boats") could be removed. This resulted in a production cost savings, not an acoustical improvement.
K-5-J was used until 1964
