Hi, thanks for the answer.
I forgot to tell, it does have a power switch incorporated. The pot is for both volume and power.
Was it always like this? I do not know. I bought it 2-3 months ago, and it was like this when i got it. The previous owner said the he changed the pot with a very experienced repairman. And also he said, that is the best possible solution which i dont think so.
I will also attach the schema which is on the receiver.
So which pot should i buy from goldpoint? Is it something easy to install or should I take it to a repairman?
Regards

Get a control with correct electrical characteristics in there.
I read the schematic as not showing a loudness tap on the volume control. Gold Point stuff is good, but EXPENSIVE. IMO, a PEC hot molded carbon control sourced from DigiKey will be more than adequate. PEC part # KKA5041S28 is what you need.
Switches ganged to pots. that have failed is an all too common problem. You deal with the on/off switch issue by installing a slide or rocker switch in a back panel opening currently occupied by a convenience outlet.

I know there are people who prefer the carbon pot to a conductive plastic (Alps, etc.). I don't know how it compares to a stepped pot like the beautiful and expensive Gold Point, but it is a lot easer on the wallet and also easier to fit in the tight places you usually have in vintage gear.

The Goldpoint is WELLLLLLL worth it. For a long time I didn't believe that a volume pot could make that much difference. Well I was SOOOOOO wrong!!!! It makes all the difference. After using the Goldpoint stepped attenuator, I can't believe any high end audio gear wouldn't use one.

Thanks for the info. I have wondered about them, but the cost had made me wary. What did you used it in?
Dave
I always felt Marantz PM8004 and a slightly muted and rolled off sound. I replaced the volume control with the stepped attenuator and bazinga! it brought back the highs and dynamics while still keeping that Marantz-ie sound.
I also used it as a passive attenuator. Wonderful!!!!
I would highly recommend taking the plunge.
