I vote to leave them alone or just touch them up. If it were a ground up rebuild stripping it down to the chassis I would powder coat the chassis and transformers as I am not actually a lover of the the color.

I agree, especially with this being a factory built unit..Thank God for Jim's mods on these and the MACs as you can retain the value without destroying the physical architecture while at the same time making the amps reveal their hidden potential from the day they were designed.
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.
PLEASE ADVISE INFO ON THE BMW BROWN PAINT FOR THE CITATION II TRANSFORMERS OR CHASSIS. thanks
I will ask Jeff or you can email him thru the asylum..Mr9iron is AA name...Here is the one he is doing.

I would keep it factory stock appearance. These Citation II are pretty enough from the factory.
Now, with my shortwave radio hobby, IMO the BC-348 was too ugly to keep factory stock. So, I have this highly modified BC-348.
wow that is beautiful.those have to be one of the most modded govt surplus radios that ever was.i myself have a unmolested bc348q ,and a m.
real radios glow in the dark...
WOW
I have a BC348 but I love the layout mods you made..Very nice.

I like the build quality of the Mil Spec gear somewhat like that Citation II (high quality). Performance of the BC-348 is good, check out this link. http://www.w1vd.com/BAreceivertest.html
