For those who have been following my latest speaker idyll, I sent the dimensions of the Rec III to Hartley scion Richard Schmetterer, explaining my scheme to adapt them to the 220MSG. He replied that the cabinet's internal volume is inadequate, and at twelve inches of depth, too shallow.
Old audiophiles plan, and the gods laugh.

not true. With a given driver and box design you can get reduced bass with too big a cabinet. Yes it will go low but it will begin rolling off way up so that at the low resonance it's too far down. There's way more to box size and design than that but that's a chapter, not a reply.
I was assuming proper engineering. I am well aware of matching driver parameters to the box.
