Jerry;
I removed the panel off of the back of the GE A1 406 cabinet this morning and it's like a time capsule. Balsa wool dampening, solid maple brace, brass screws throughout, solid fir and fir plywood construction, and.........TADA! A General Electric A1 401 driver made in Syracuse NY in pristine condition.
I removed the brass colored outer cover from the driver and found the woofer to be perfect. I also found what looks to be a high quality wax impregnated metalized capacitor branded "Pyramid". I can find no values printed anywhere on the cap, however, I can not see underneath it without de-soldering it.
Seeing how the capacitor must be around 60 years old; Wouldn't it be a good idea to just replace it with a quality metalized polypropelyne one? I don't want to risk any tweeter damage.
By the way, if my memory serves: Wasn't Pyramid the brand in the KLH?
The only thing I can remember is that they were made in Mexico.
As always, thank you for your help.

Interesting! I have never seen a tweeter coaxially mounted on a vented plate like that. I suspect that is a diver to keep an eye out for.
