OK MR geezerrock, what is the amplifier you are talking about. Inquiring minds want to know.....
Follow Ups:
Well; I should let Mike Samra describe it.
Suffice to say it should be awesome - his word, not mine.

Well if it is coming from him it will be awesome.....
Is it the Sherwood S-5000?
Mine is PERFECT!!!!
charles
Charles;
Yup, it's the Sherwood S-5000.
Mikey said it's one of the best he's heard (super clean).
He installed tin/foil caps on the input grids that took a while getting there, that's the reason for the wait.
The Sherwood should be magic on my Alcorns - Altec mid driver, Beyma tweeter, Klipsch Cornwall bottom end.
They're probably around 98 to 100 db so they shouldn't stress the 15'ish wpc Sherwood at all.
If it sounds as good as I hope, I will be doing a Citation II and a AR SP3 in the spring (I mean Mikey will). I have a hankering for a pair of Martin Logan Ethos and the Citation deuce should do the trick on the stats, but that for another day. Right now I'm just looking forward to the humble little Sherwood sitting on my rack churning out great sounding music. :)

After having mine done by Mike, I really think I hit the Ahhhhhh point. Mine does everything very well. Sure you can find other amps that do this or that better, but your Sherwood will do EVERYTHING well.
It plays music like it's supposed too. Rich and involving!!!!
I think you will be very happy after you get it. And I AMMMMM waiting to hear your review.
Heck, we should start a Sherwood's Done my Mikey club!!!!
charles
Charles;
I love it! Where do I send money for my charter member pin?
We should probably look to be more inclusive though, maybe "Amps Done By Mikey" or something similar. This will enable our Fisher, Audio Research, Harmon Kardon, McIntosh, Lafayette, Bogen etc brethren to fly the flag.
I talked with the master last night and he's definitely back to himself after going through one of life's little rain storms.
Regarding my review; I am trying to get a friend (he's a cameraman for a cable TV station, and a budding audiophile) to film a video review. Think low brow version of Peter Breuninger with T-shirt, bottle of Stella, and flip flops playing Led Zep on quality vinyl. The setting will be my dedicated room which looks more like a 46 year old man's dorm room - no doilies or oil paintings there.
I have to compare with the Sherwood a Pass First Watt and Pathos integrated amps. For speakers I have my hybrid horns (98db 8 ohm) and Paradigm Reference 40 v3 speakers (88db 5 ohm).
This may take some time to arrange, so until then I'll do the standard written version with a bunch of pics.

This is my club and I'm making a un-necessarily long proclamation of RIGID rules and regulations!!!! No stereo for you - TWO WEEKS!
Ahhhh - the power!!!!!!!!!
King Charles
Your right.
Please forgive my insolence.

It is great to have someone on this forum that has the technical knowledge and expertise to work on, refurbish and rebuilt tube amps. And also has a good ear for what sounds good.....
