Going from Infinity 1001"s with Marantz 250 basic and Pre in 1975 to Magneplanar MG-1 with PSE Studio Two with mogami cables ah what fun

ahhh, the 1001s. my friend that worked at infinity had them. his jump from them, his jump was to IMF monitor III and then to the III improved (crossover board swap that was mind-boggling) took him/us to a whole nother world of deep bass flat to 16Hz and electrostatic like speed with the new xover. imaging was theretofore unmatched. coupled with the GAS thoebe/ampzilla combo proved them to be quite dynamic.
my own leap was from sherwood s8900a reliever to separates---quatre bod-1c preamp and spectro acoustics p202. i never looked back.

Yeah back in the day after hearing the Servo Statics playing Switched on Bach I flipped out and couldent afford them so I got the 1001"S
were pretty good for what they were. those peerless cone tweeters had a similar sound to the electrostatics.
i eventually got the Monitor Jrs which were VERY good with their dome mid and tweeters and flat down to thiry Hz. i know where a good pair is but i am not sure they are available. i have enough other speakers that i can resist the temptation to inquire.
the same friend also had the holosonics: a pair Infinity Holosonic I speakers. circa 1972. They have 5 tweeters: 1 on each side and the top and a single forward firing 12" woofer. i asked how they compared to real music so he played some stevie winwood and when the piano came in, he started accompanying it with the spinet he had sitting between them. it sounded pretty close.
arnie and others liked rear firing tweeters a lot. the others include dave wilson.

The holosonics you just flashed me back again... I had a bud that had them in the day they were cool to..
