I listed both of those(XP 5's & Lancer 44's) because I feel they are my best speakers that I own that mate well with what else I have,& the type of music I listen to.Although I have others such as my vintage Pioneer CS -811A's,which may work very well with the Philips?I also own some vintage
Marantz Imperial 5's the first versions with the cloth surrounds! So nothing really high end here in speakers like most have! But none the less are not Crap either! As I have said before I mostly Listen to Lawrence Welk,Tony Bennett,The Rat Pack etc.so I am trying to build a system that sounds good with that kind of music @ moderate volume levels! Thanks again for your help!

Nice little collection of speakers. I remember the Marantz 6 as they were seemingly an attempt to reach those buying the high end Marantz separates bit, less Bout the other models. In the Boston Market their speakers could not seem to get any traction as the market was pretty controlled by the NEW speaker companies and Dynaco. Try them all, it is half the fun of it. I would definitely try the Fisher and Marantz but I could not get used to the early Japanese sound, so have a bias.

That's what I was planing to do!But I need to downsize & weed out the not so good speakers as I have way to many & use that to invest in one really good pair of speakers!
If you were close, I would loan a few sets to you to try. Better to have one or two really good sets than a dozen okay ones. I am still in process of getting rid of some 3-4 pair and then will be down to my keepers. And, a lot more room.

I hear you. I am still about 2 - 3 pair too heavy. 1 set is committed to someone out of the country until year end and another I will dump as soon as possible while the other is on loan to the ent who is out until the end of year and then when and if returned will also be dumped.
Trying to get down to the ADS L300 and either the KLH Fives or Wharfedale W70s. Better one or two good sets than a dozen not as decent. They take up too much space.
