Does anyone have a copy? Were there changes in the S 8000 IV run?
Thanks!
Steve
Follow Ups:
I'm diving into a S5000 Mk I and while the preamp looks very close, maybe identical, to the schematic, the PS and output sections are not so close, even very different.
That's the downside to equipment that was made by a company that was run by the technical folks: great quality and performance, continuous improvement within a model (well, hopefully), but not so much the most well-documented stuff ever made.
I've got two Sherwood FM tube tuners. It seems to me that Sherwood made running changes constantly in their production runs, some major, some minor. You may be lucky to find one that matches any given schematic down to the last component :-)
That said, if you know how to work on tube electronics, there's nothing that challenging about them other than lots of components on one chassis.
I haven't seen any reference to SAM'S for these though. SAMs website says "schematic only" I do see AG Tannenbaums has a service manual electronic copy for 20. Is this worth the $20?

Steve, I have the Sherwood manual for the Mark I, probably not that much different. Also it really only speaks to tuner alignment. You can have a scan, but it will be next week.

Hi,
Anyone has a schematic for Sherwood S8000 where the phono preamp is using 12AX7 while the driver tube is 6EU7 and power tubes is 7868. There are a few schematics that are there available but for my S8000 version I could not find with the same setup. Anyone that can direct me or help me find my schematic.
Thanks,
Jess
Have you tried "hifi engine"?
........I was a vegetarian for 15 minutes... until the main course.
will send later today.
I have two s8000 1st versions. They are not identical.
The s8000IV, which I sold, claims 80 wpc. 1st version claims 64 wpc.
There are some changes in the tuner section as well. It has a center meter with stereo indicator light.
The phono preamp tubes are ac on the filaments. 1st version were dc.
6eu7s in preamp and driver tubes, not 12ax7.
Output plate voltage 438v. 1st version 409v.
It is a nice receiver.
Enjoy
David
I will send it by email to you. It is pdf and it is not accepted to upload.
The s8000 to my knowledge was never el84. One of mine is 7591, with 12ax7s as drivers and in the preamp. The second is 7868, with 6eu7 drivers and 12ax7 in the preamp.
David, what output tubes do your two 8000-I receivers use? I've read that some of the early 8000 s had 7189/EL84s.
Steve
Great- Thanks!

Got one coming; can't wait to restore it and hear it!
