Until and unless someone more savvy than I gives you the complete and correct answer :-) here's a thought.
Generally, for the EV coaxes, access to the innards requires removing the label (emblem) on the back of the magnet 'bell cover'. I don't know if this is true for the LT-12, but my SWAG is that's what you'll have to do.
My LT-12s are in enclosures, so I am a little loath to dig 'em out and investigate empirically, I'm afraid.
If you don't get better/more complete info from others, though, I'll open up one of the enclosures and see what there is to see...
Good luck!
all the best,

So when the cover is off, there is a nut to tighten or something?
Thanks,
Chad
likely somethign like that -- actually, if you google around, you might find a poto of the back side of an EV 12TRXB... Obviously, this is NOT the same as an LT-12, but I suspect (!?!)) that the apple didn't fall too far from the tree, design-wise, if you catch mydrift (i.e., I doubt that the EV engineers would reinvent the wheel unless necessary).
If this post is fraught with typos, I apologize... I apologie. I am sitting on our porch and theafternoon sunshine's pretty much obscured the too-glossy display of this littleDell laptop....

Here is the back of an LT-12. It has that glued on metal cover that needs to be carefully pried off (I think). Good luck!
Dave
It might (?????) be that the adhesive could be loosened by EXTREMELY JUDICIOUS use of a heat gun... I claim no liability if that's bad advice, though!
all the best,
