Enjoy.
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.

Don't see a link? Using iPad, could that be the problem?
Thanks all.
The shot of the units stacked to on each other in piles in the service department is scary as I can foresee units getting physically damaged and because it looks like the department must be overflowing meaning turn around times are quite long.
When I had my units checked back in somewhere around '74-75 just before the 5-year warranties ran out the turn around time was about a week.

Hi Mike, that was really great! I found a couple of videos I'd like to post but am making some sort of error. All I know is copy and paste. Could you or anyone else tell me how to forward a site..I have Windows 8, and it sucks...Mike, all that money into a faceplate and alluring blue lights? That's why I like Dynaco, the poor mans McIntosh. If we were blind, which would be best...?...love ya Mike..give me a quick lesson on uploading to this site if you got a sec...thanks Mark Korda.
Dynaco, a poor man's McIntosh? Maybe if you are using Bose 901s with rotted surrounds. Dynaco may be many things but not even close to a Mc soundwise, in engineering or component quality. It might be closer to a very poor man's Sherwood. On 2nd thought, not even that, more like a poor man's EICO or Heathkit. I am talking cost, not sound. There I would vote for the EICO.
DYNA delivered a lot for the money at that time but every model except maybe the ST-35 is an exercise in cost cutting except the transformers that would be very good as expected.
The big selling point is not their sound quality as designed but, how much they can be improved through mods. Most other companies models do not exhibit such a delta with mods.

I agree, I never had a Dynaco amp, but when I first got my MC30s I used a PAS 3 Dynaco pre-amp with Telefunken tubes. I soon got my MX110Z and when I put it in the system, the difference was amazing. Veils lifted, fuller sound, all the cliches. That was only a pre-amp, I can imagine that the difference between amps would be even greater.Somebody should tell the President of McIntosh that the word he wants is not conscientious but conscious.

That's interesting. Back in the 70's I sold Mac at a retailer and bought a C-26 preamp from the factory. Loved it. Then a few years later a friend brought over a beat up PAS-3x. The difference was breathtaking... and not in the McIntosh's favor. Of course the C-26 was early solid-state Mac, which was all pretty much... awful. Dull, veiled, lifeless... and beautifully made. (I know of an MC250 used as a cue amp in a studio that was just taken out of service, still working just fine thank you, after over 40 years of almost 24/7 service.) And thankfully they did get their solid-state act together. I haven't heard any of their new stuff, but the 4100 receiver was really good.

Never compared the C26 to a PAS3x but didn't do one with the PAS and bother the PAT4 and PAT5. The Pats were worse than the PAS. As the Pats are of the same design generation as the C26 it would not surprise me if you preferred the PAS as it would be instilled with the classical tube sound. The C28 was as far as I am concerned the first stand alone Mc preamp that was worthy of the name.
Considering that persons now thrill after the sound of the Pats, Crown Iccky 150 and 15A and Citation 11, I can see the PAS being enjoyed. Back then these preamps enjoyed many until the next gen of designs came out and showed what a decent ss preamp could do. These early ss preamps also IMHO saved the tube as owners somewhat quickly realized the older tube preamps were much better and worth holding onto or getting.

Hi Tadlo and Shovel, thanks for the help. Dynaco, a poor mans McIntosh is not a term I made up,something I read. Most people who like Dynacos like to learn about the innards, and not have to pay for someone to service their stuff....Mark Korda
From the YouTube page of the video you want to share, click on Share below the video, then Embed , then check the box "use old embed code" and copy the code and past it into your post here on the Asylum.
That way the video will be embedded, just like Mike's was. The video below explains it pretty well, but remember that to post them to the Asylum you have to check "use old embed code" , which isn't mentioned in the video below.
All you have to do is paste the web address (URL) in the "Optional Link URL" bar below the message box. Then make up a title for it and put it just below.
