It was actually Electro-Voice. It used the top end of a larger cabinet and a crossover that shunted both channel's bass to the larger speaker.
And yes, I have one here.

The concept of a "subwoofer" is nothing new; Heathkit had one in the 1950s. Indeed, it was a subwoofer/supertweeter to extend the performance of their little SS-1 Jensen-driver-equipped two ways.
See: http://www.heathkit-museum.com/hifi/hvmss-1b.shtml
Back to the EV Stereon. With a little snooping around, one may find information on the Stereon at EV's legacy documents download site: http://www.electrovoice.com/downloads.php?d=1
Some catalog info may also be found at the link below.
There were several flavors of EV Stereons, if memory serves -- the most sophisticated of which used a rather odd (to me, at any rate) extended-range (?) compression driver and horn.
I don't have a Stereon... but I do have a fairly nice pair of the cosmetically very similar EV Coronet enclosures... ;-)
all the best,

so that would have been used with a K-Horn that was using all EV drivers? i think there were various iterations of H-Horns; had found a timeline chart online.
oh yeah, didn't you star in a TV program---Topper? heheheh.

Funny you should mention Topper. I just finished watching a couple of episodes downloaded off the net some time ago. I remember the series from the time of being young and innocent and wondering how they filmed it.

Juris Doctorate - the degree US law school grant for paying enough and getting passing grades. Then you get you life ut under the microscope and take 2 1/2 days to show how dumb you are and if you pass you get to look the fool in front of clients and judges. :). When we retire or no longer practice we dump the Attorney or awyer title and list ourselves as J.D. that is the acedemic level acheived. For the layperson, it is a Ph.D. but, I do not give medical advice.
I am an American imported to Canada and my degree is from Stetson Cllege of Law in Gulfport (St. Pete), Florida.

well, that is a revelation. J.D. is one that i never heard. PhD however is not reserved for medical personnel. of COURSE they do things differently in other countries. even though we hardly think of Canada to be a different country from us other than in, aside from Quebec, which we know wanted to secede from Canada.
well, at least you don't drive on the wrong side of the road. i will say that the roads are too narrow there. we could always detect a Canadian in Buffalo because they wandered around in the lanes on Busti Avenue which is the main artery coming from the Peace Bridge.
