Hello, one of my friends inherited a Nakamichi System One and needs an owner's manual - anybody know a link on where to find one?
Thanks!
Tom

This is one of those manuals that's actually useful, because the rack assembly is tricky, as is the timer. The manual covers both.
I just scanned my copy and uploaded it to hifiengine.com, where it should show up in a week or so.
If you need it sooner, you can download it from my Dropbox: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/57076867/Nak%20System%20One.pdf
The quality's not the best, sorry, I was in a rush. But it's fully readable.
... do you mean the 600 cassette deck, 610 preamp (or 630 preamp/tuner) and 620 power amp?
If so, it looks like docs for those components (at least most of them) areavailable at hifiengine (link below; free registration required for downloading).

interesting brochure scan, too, at http://my.reset.jp/~inu/ProductsDataBase/Products/Nakamichi/Nakamichi-600/Nakamichi-600%20Series%20Component%20Audio%20System.htm

I had a Nakamichi 620 a long time ago. Nice looking, not all that great sounding, at least to me.

Never knew they offered the line in silver. I usually prefer silver over black but in this case black gets my vote.
A couple of things that always bugged me about the series. First there was no separate tuner. While I like the tuner/preamp format in this case since there was a preamp I can not figure out why they just did not package the tuner portion of the tuner/preamp as a separate component. Also, Nach made some nice reel to reel transports such as those used in the KLH pair and it would have seemed a natural to offer a low profile r2r similar to the Pioneer 707 and 909.
These were really nice components and I remember customers just crowding around it and drooling for what seemed hours.

Hi Brian,
When I was in high school and saw this system in the Audio Associates that was in Wheaton Plaza, I preferred the black too. However, now, almost everything I have is black, and I would rather have silver. I have seen the silver Nak rack and it is really nice looking.
They made a separate preamp, but, as you said, no separate tuner. My friend has one and it is really a mixer. With all the features, it is still a great sounding unit. It is very well made and still works fine today.
