The 6L6gc requires very close to the same drive as a KT88 so from that standpoint the answer is yes.
Even with tubes that require less drive,having more drive capability always makes a difference because many times you are able to operate the driver stage in a much more linear portion of its curve and lets be honest,the driver and voltage amp stages are what we mostly hear in an amplifier because of the high amplification factor of those stages.
So yes,it will help all types of tubes.
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.

Thanks, that makes sense. What do you think about using a CCS in the driver LTP?
Putting a CCS in the tail is a nice idea and it keeps the phase splitter honest and balanced by forcing it to draw equal amounts on both sides of the tube..Thats kind of sketchy analysis but you get the idea.
