I have a Sherwood S5000 again. I had one in 2006 and sold it in 2007 because my Eico HF81 was better but thought it would be fun to try again.Cheers, Sherwood users

This isn't a sell because I'm NOT SELLING!
But get one and have Mike rebuild it like he did with mine.
He used a mix of coupling caps, ahhhhhh, it's just too much to mention all the good stuff he did under that hood. Or is it bonnet for you?
It is the best sounding stereo I have ever had, or will have.

Didn't you you say "the best" when you had your Marantz 18?
:)
it's been a process of both growth and change of taste.
After a lifetime of hearing the same "type" of sound, ie that 70's vintage sound, my listening "style" developed or changed. I think it has to do with dabbling in new gear. Kind of like finding out - what else IS out there. Then coming back to vintage and looking for a new sound. I really think I found it in this fully rebuilt Sherwood.

Thanks Charles. I do my own soldering but will probably borrow some ideas from your's - and respectfully use Mike's ideas.
Do you use your S5000 with the SR71s speakers?
