Radio Shack always took great in their loudspeakers from the electrostat 3 add on speaker, to the hybrid electrostat designs, to the minimus series, to the Optimus larger series and even their drivers were of great quality.THey had ribbons, to alnico, to soft dome, to compression drivers, most of which were better than average and some leaning on superb.
It is too bad they got away from that and now they are closing a bunch of stores..I really think they could clean house if they resurrected those lines and marketed them at fair prices as they used to.
Are those 5 X 9 or 6 X 9s?
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.
Follow Ups:
I have a pair of Mach II's waiting to get re-foamed. It was a lot of speaker for the money.

...are not accessible at the moment (way too much stuff piled around them) but probably are 6x9.
