Not really but I would assume the plus side to be the direction of the writing.I want to warn you tho,the Mundorfs sound great when you first put them in but in preamps but after about a month they get harsh and lose focus in the upper ranges.
I called up Wheezer because he used the Mundorf Silver Supreme and I said Wheeze,I put some Mundorf Silver foil and oil caps in a Fisher 400CX2 and they sounded great for about a month, and then, and right after I said and then he cuts me off and says, let me guess Mikey, they got harsh sounding.I said yes,how did you figure that? His was response was,why do you think I quit using them...
Now,I was using them in a vintage preamp and wheeze was using them in a more modern AI but we came up with the same result and in about the exact amount of time.I still use mundorfs but I only use the .1@600v dry polys which seem to be great. I use them where there isn't high B+ voltage present.
They may work well and they may not..Where are you using them?

Mike,
I am using 1uf's in a Hagerman Clarinet linestage.I have not noticed a harshness, but that may be because I have them bypassed with Russian .1uf Teflons. One is in series with the cathode and the output of 12au7,and the other is between B+ and ground on the plate of 12au7 for each channel.I have noticed one channel louder and richer sounding than the other and noticed that I put the bypassed Mundorfs in different polarity on rt channel vs left channel.I think that I will change the polarity of the weaker channel to the way the stronger channel is set up to see if it helps.

The larger caps may not have the harshness issue.I like the Russian teflons as well but you might want to the try the k40y as a bypass or even the Russian silver mica..They are both relatively cheap and you may like them even better as a bypass in a phono stage.

Mike,
The Mundorfs are 1uf.Is the bypass cap the one between the plate and ground?I would be willing to try K40ys.should I bypass them with the Teflons that I currently have in parallel with the Mundorfs?

The bypass is the cap you have in parallel with the larger cap.In this case the teflon is bypassing the 1uf cap.You can add the k40 in parallel with the teflon or remove the teflon and put the k40 in its place.
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.
Thanks Mike.
