There have been numerous mentions/comparisons of several "Insignia" branded receivers with other things over at AK. Also, at least some of the Insignia branded stereo (2-channel) receivers are apparently identical to products also sold under the "Sherwood" brand name.

I've stayed out of controversial stuff lately, like whether vintage solid state gear sound better than the current stuff. Did have some fun recently helping a guy on the video asylum fing a good $200 5.1 Receiver tho. I tend to be a skeptic when I hear talk of guys who claim they hear obvious differences between the sound amplifiers, but especially so when they are listening in a non-blind situation.
