Want to use my Pioneer timer to use my bdrm system as an alarm clock for me and want to use the cd player but can't figure out how to do it., Unlike the cd player in my car which stays at the same point on the disc when power is shut off the home cd players don't seem to have this feature or at least JVC and Denon and Magnavox doesn't as those are the ones I have here at home that I have tried. Anyone have any thoughts about any home cd player that will do that?
I do have a spare Sony car cd player that I COULD use if I got an inverter but really don't want to go that route.
Follow Ups:
That's great that some players will just start back up. I retract my play button suggestion which would probably have needed to be a momentary switch.
Two of my 3 CD players will start up from a dead stop- Hitachi and Marantz, but not the Sony. The former two players have physical power switches whereas the Sony has a logical one. They are also older.
Neither player will start the CD from where it left off, they start from the beginning.
I use an old GE alarm clock with a switched power outlet to turn on one of my bedroom systems with the Marantz CD.
If you are intent on doing this, wire in a timer with separate switched connections to the play button on the CD player and leave the CD player on.
The timers that have easy to get to switch connections are the ones used for water heaters, pool pumps etc. Yes it is an overkill, but you can probably find a used one for about $10.
The problem you will have is with the CD player because number one,you may or not need an electromechanical on off switch. The other problem you will have is,getting a command to the microprocessor to tell it to play the CD.
Here is what you need to do.Put in a CD and hit play.Unplug the CD player from the wall for a few minutes while it is playing..Then,plug the player back in and see if it goes back playing the CD..If it does,a timer will work but if it doesn't,a timer will not work.
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.
