Well that could well be. Of course other components besides the CDP make a difference too. I'm no big digital fan and spent a good deal to make it sound decent. One needs a CD player to have access to about 90% of music of the last 20 years or so. Technics is not known for good sounding CD players in my opinion.

What are some good sounding CDPs?
My first player was a Technics. I thought it sounded good and I still have it, but my current players I have hooked up are Sony CDPs. :-)

There are many many good sounding ones but they cost. My advice would be to read some reviews of CD players here at the link below. Good luck.
