I posted a similar message some time ago about my frustrated purchase of a restored Eico HF81 amplifier from Yves Beauvais, Vintage Vacuum Audio (http://vintagevacuumaudio.com/product/eico-hf81/). At that time, I was quite prepared to buy two Eicos (one wired for 8 and 16 ohms and the other for 4 and 8 ohms, one having all original transformers, incl. a power transformer and the other having a newer transformer (don't remember the name). I comminicated the information about his products to my friend who is a local dealer of hi-end equipment and who has better capacity to order equipment from abroad. In addition, he has a warehouse in Germany where all equipment he orders arrives (as an intermediate stage) and is then forwarded to appropriate destinations.
The dealer was interested in restored Mac monoblocs. We started to negotiate payment and delivery terms, packaging options, etc. Then strange things happened: the seller stopped answering my questions and my friend's questions and shortly after that all of the items were displayed on his web-site as "sold", incl. the Eicos.
I nearly forgot about it until today when I incidentally entered this web-site and saw an Eico HF-81 offered for sale (!), but this time, for $200 more.
I am wondering whether I should contact him again as if nothing wrong had happened or should forget this seller and Eico altogether?
Any comments will be appreciated.

No other info except Stereophile
As suggested below, Jeff Day posted comments on his blog site after buying restored Mac amp from Vintage Vacuum Audio. So there is more information out there.
"You can’t know what the “best” is unless you have heard everything, and keep in mind that given individual tastes, there really isn’t any such thing." HP
His site is worth visiting for his pdf scans of old High Fidelity, Audio, and High Hi Stereo Review magazines. The ads alone are worth the look.
Last fall I made a couple of contacts with Vintage Vacuum Audio inquiring about Mac restorations but that went no further. Then in late January I received an Email from Yves announcing they had moved and were once again open for business.
I don't know about their pricing and have never done business with them. My initial contact was made after reading positive comments on Jeff Day's audio blog. But my experience may explain the sudden interruption in communications. So it may or may not help.

I believe you mean "to quit..."?
You have to know when the quit.
I'm sorry to say that, but take the message and find another dealer to work with.

Forget the seller; I'd encourage you not to forget about EICO - there are other EICO flavored ways to get an HF-81 that might (?!) be more cost effective.
Find a pair of HF-12 mono integrated amps.
Find a pair of HF-14 mono power amps.
Find a single HF-86 stereo power amp.
There were other, later EL84 PP EICO amplifiers in the "Classic" series, too.
all the best,
mrh
A pair of HF-12 mono integrated amps is MUCH cheaper than an HF81. The HF14 monoblocks are rare (and expensive), and we all know about the HF86.
Look for the HF-12....
Best,
Ross
