David,I had a pair of A-40xl's.They were my all time favorite. My freind owns them now.The Dyna A-40xl's were about the same as the A-35's,but 1 inch wider, and they used the Seas H-086 tweeter instead of the Seas H-087 used by the original A-25 and A-35 and A-50.The A-25xl used the same tweeter and had more high frequency extention than the A-25.Thus the A-40xl had a little more highs than the A-35 which was a great speaker too.Tadlo,I have the A-35 manual in my hands and this is what is said maybe to answer your question.(the woofer is mounted in one portion, which is vented through a acoustic impedance system into the second sealed chamber. This varible volume action lowers the (Q) of the system for an even more linear impedance characteristic than in the A-25,with notably superior bass articulation).I remember my Dyna Mark3's hooked up to my a-40xl's in 20 by 20 foot basement room.A church organ was on and I was getting sub woofer type feelings, love both those speakers...Mark Korda

Thanks for your interesting reply. They do sound very nice in our bedroom. For vintage bookshelves I especially like the Fulton FMI-80's in my office.
Best regards,
David
I have some stored as we moved last yr. and the wife and family don't want another setup other than my main room. They lack bass, but sound pretty good otherwise. My first pair was stolen from me long ago, this pr sold to me by someone who lurks here.
I was using McIntosh MA 5100 and other gear such as GAS Son of Amp.
I have been running mine with tube amps, now a Stereo 70 with the Triode Electronics board and triode-connected 6P3SE's, driven by an AVA Super-Pas 3. Though I like the Fultons alone, they do have their inevitable limitations, especially in low bass, and I have played with some inexpensive moves slightly in the direction of the J Modulars. Right now, I have them supplemented gently with a 8" Dayton subwoofer and and some Beston super-tweets. The latter are not necessary, but help give some air. Though the configuration of the Stereo 70 does not provide much power, it is dynamic enough for my office system. Though the HK430 receiver is supposed to work well with the Fultons, I think most have preferred them with tubes.
