Later Gator,
Crank up your talking machine, grab a jar of your favorite "kick-back", sit down, relax, and let the good times roll.

My 1997 brocure lists the TX-SV535, so yours is probably a 1995-96 model of HT receiver at the bottom of their range of models. The 535 is listed at 90 W/ch (L & R) and in the five channel mode at 65 w/ch L/C/R, and 25 w/ch for the rears. I'd venture a guess that the ratings on the 525 are similar or a few watts lower, but not very much.
As a stereo receiver, it ought to be pretty good sounding if you get the controls set properly, and it ought to have a subwoofer output, so it ought to be pretty nice with some small mini-monitor type speakers that are good down to 80 Hz, and a good powered sub with LFE input.
That was free? Not bad for the price.

...the manual lists it as 80 watts per into 8 ohms; 20 to 20,000hz; 0.08% thd. I will probably try it this weekend on a set of PhaseTec Velocity V-10s; it is too much of a hassle to move everything around to access the rear of the TX-4500II's rear panel and the leads to the stacked Advents. Again, thank you for your input.

I seriously doubt it would like driving stacked Advents anyway. Minimum impedance is around 2.75 ohms on those.
