I found a couple pairs of speakers at a local charity thrift store yesterday....
One pair is a set of Jensen TF-25 "bookshelf" speakers....the cabinets are too rough to refinish, but the drivers are in excellent condition. They have the Jensen 10" "Flexair" woofers with the red accordion surrounds and the tweeters are RP-203's, which I have never seen before. I saved the crossovers and grill badges as well.
I thought the cabinet was poorly made and am thinking of building cabinets for these drivers....I will keep the volume the same but thought I should "mirror image" the baffle.
What say you?
I paid $9 for the pair.
The other pair are Technics SB-X300, their 3-way with honeycomb disc drivers. The woofers need foam but everything works....nice crossovers!
Again, the cabinets were shot...at $9 for this pair as well I thought I could part them out and recover my $18+....
The tweeters are very nice. Any suggestions?
I've be using a pair of Jensen TF-3 speakers for the last 5 years. Same woofer and tweeter as yours, with two 3-inch mid-range. They work well with tube gear and are very non-fatiguing. Might be worth the effort to build some cabs if you have the skill.
Are those Jensen tweeters RP 203's or are they RP 302's?
I wish they were RP-302's!!!!
