I'm surprised no one mentioned a good tube amp. Those come from the mid 60's when SS was a rare thing and the few SS amps around had output coupling caps. If you can find one try something like a pair of Dyna MK III's or Mk IV's or a Stereo 70. The Eico ST70 ought to do very well. Failing that try a 1/2 ohm resistor in series with your SS amp and see if you like that. The resistor simulates the source impedance of a 60's tube amp and gives a pretty similar interaction with the speaker. Several owners of AR 3a's tried that with some success and it works with the AR4x and KLH 17.
