Looking for a professional to test/align/clean, etc., my old Sansui G-9700. I live near Philly, but would drive to NJ or NYC, if necessary. Shipping is pretty much out of the question, as I had some near-misses with audio disaster, last year. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

...located on Monroe Avenue just up from old US 1. I was in the shop looking for some tubes aqnd he has/had shelves full of old radios that he had restored.

Later Gator,
Crank up your talking machine, grab a jar of your favorite "kick-back", sit down, relax, and let the good times roll.

Interesting. I'll see if I can find the place. Thanks. :-)

Thanks for the tip - I'll keep that in mind. Shipping is out until proven absolutely necessary. I lost one 9700 to a previous FedEX foul-up and almost lost this one, too. So, my adrenaline's running a bit low for any further excitement. :LOL:Plus, if I'm going to drive 4-5 hours for the work I think it will be straight to these guys.:

They like doing old receivers and I've heard nothing but excellent recommendations, so far. I also like their description of the shop.

other side of the state.Try Overture in DE on 202 and see if they can fix your unit.
Or Soundex in Ardmore or maybe the Willow Grove location. Both are known audio dealers and have repair but I don't know what they repair.

Don't know about the Ardmore store but the Willow Grove store closed 2 years ago.

......from where I'm at. LOL :-)I should have checked a map I guess BUT Ryan's service cannot be beat for honesty and quality of workmanship.
I am in no way affiliated with Ryan, just on very happy customer of his and yes I would rather ship units to be repaired/refurbished half way across the US than have it done locally!
Cheers,
Soundex in Willow Grove is unfortunately out of business. What a beautifull store it was.
I am taking my NAD to a place in center city that is an authorized NAD dealer Monday. I will ask them if they do that work. They are closed weekends. I think he said Electronics service repair was the shop name on the message.

Any word from them on Sansui work...either way?

Hey, thanks guys. I look forward to hearing more, after your visit...esp. any impressions of the shop.

I had my vintage tube Leak power amps repaired at HiFi sales in Cherry Hill. They did a good job. Friends have also recommended Community Audio in Chestnut Hill, which I'm going to try today for a Sonic Frontiers repair. I'll let you know in due course.

Again, thanks for the follow-up. I'm a little put off by the experience of the other guy (see previous response), but maybe I'll stop by there for a chat. Can't hurt. :-)
