  I tried a 0.15 uF Hovland in both direction in my phono stage. I preferred the "wrong" way by a fair margin. 5 days of warm up both ways. Did not like the sound in the end - went with Audio (teflon) Cap in the end.

  At the moment I am using a 1.0 uF Auricap, but has not gone the "wrong" way yet.

  I believe that every cap would sound different when in different orientation.

  putting them in the wrong way didn't break them, but I never had them in that orientation long enough to be able to tell if there is an audible difference to the recommended direction
