Hi monsterbill,
Replace the regulated supply by a Walt Jung super regulator type and you will be very surprised by the non tuner-like sound.
This tweak only giving once,

Hi Elso,
That sounds very intriguing since a friend of mine just acquired a same FT-101 tuner, and we've spent few hours trying it out the other day. Would you kindly provide me with more details (including source) for such mod? In addition, can such mod be done to other tuners (tube or SS, modern or vintage) and be equally beneficial? Thank you.

Hi tc,
I once builded a phonostage with a Walt Jung like superregulator. It was more designed to be low noise. I thought what happens if I power my Sansui TUX-1 with it.?
The schematics and the story can be found in the Audio Amateur 1995. Obtainable at www.audioxpress.com. Do also a search on the Audio Asylum; these regulators have been much discussed here!
See also the Jutta Tulonen DAC website. He uses a somewhat simplified form.Good luck,

Hi Elso,
Thanks for the information, I'll run the search in archive and do the "homeworks". I guess I never paid attention to such thing before.
