In this case, it would be much simpler for you (and your amp) to purchase one of those dedicated sub amps with level, phase, and crossover control. (see ACI, Madisound, MCMelectronics, etc) Run the originals full range, and cross over to the bass units as low as practical, although it may be advantageous to crossover higher to fill in room nodes.As for separate enclosures, are you going to have enough volume with a sealed enclosure to get smooth response to the lower limit? If you insist on sealed, it may be your best bet to keep them isolated.
