If you believe that LPs or CDs benefit from demagnetization, then it follows you might believe you need the Furutech. Because one problem with a tape head demagnetizer is that if you don't use it properly, you can just as likely magnetize as demagnetize. The Furutech takes that worry out of the picture. The cheapest and least troublesome path is not to believe that it makes any difference, which is the one I have chosen.
Usually such a system can only get you so far.Usually when you bump into a law like 'gravity' or 'a moving object tends to stay moving' and such notions vaporize with said philosophers demise.
On the other hand, you may only invoke this notion for odd, stubborn ideas you do not want to actually think about.
Then my hat off to you sir! For sticking your head in the sand like an ostrich in sketchy moments of life.My take on the gizmo in question is only concerning value: do these gimos do ENOUGH to warrant using them? For me the answer is no.
Many other qudiophile tweaks land in the same circular file:
Adjusting VTA on a TT for every record. Pffft.
Washing records with magic solutions..(I use plain running tap water)
Others I cannot think of at this moment. Some odd rituals I do use:
Every CD gets brushed off to remove invisible dust.. (if you ever saw a picture of just how close the lens gets to the surface of a CD.. then you might want to also.)I leave my stereo on 24/7/365/ easy. and the cost is only about $10 a month. Save the hour or two of not as perfect listening while the equipment warms up. What audiophile tweak costs only $10?
(Answer: the cosmetic blush brush I use on the CDs)As for demag? If you have spare money and want one. Good for you.
Otherwise not my problem.
