I recently bought a pr of Tyler Linbrook Monitors with their custom made stands. They are currently restin on 4 rubber pads on top of the stands which are mounted with spike feet to the floor. I have heard different opinions; some say blue tack, some say spike them to the stands. Looking for advice and opinions (please give me websites I can check out). Thank you in advance

I've experimented with many interfaces over the years, and highly recommend a vibration wave blocking, resonance dissipating device placed between the top of a speaker stand, and the bottom of a loudspeaker enclosure, with the bottom of the speaker stand spiked to the floor, with or without coupling discs.

Far the best and not expensive.
Child, pet and visitor friendly too, unlikely to fall off.

You might consider brass footers of some sort and or EAR C-1002 isodamp which is sold by Michael Percy and very well respected by some. To see if you may like brass you could get some solid brass cap nuts, like 5/8 in and put four under each speaker . This looks like it would be stable as they would be low profile. Mapleshade has some low profile brass footers which look like they would be stable, especially if four were used. It is very likely that if you liked the brass acorn cap nuts you would love Mapleshade's heavy footers with points. I myself am a fan of EAR and brass. T456
Good suggestion on the Mapleshade footers, Tweaker. The triple-points might work pretty effectively without drilling into the speakers (although they would probably leave a dimple over time). I like Mapleshade products -- nicely made and very reasonably priced.
If you don't want to drill into the speakers, spiking (or tiptoe-ing) is going to be difficult as the speakers will just vibrate off.
Link below to Herbies for some alternative ideas though...
Couldn't agree more. The original "tip toes" under a stand-mount would be an accident waiting to happen. For that matter, never found spiking a monitor type speaker to a stand yielded very good results. I've used similar type products you've mentioned or even blu-tack between the stand's platform and the bottom of the speaker. Now rather to couple or decouple the stand itself to the floor is another issue to consider in the final tuning process.
Thank you! This could turn into quite a debate. The biggest impovement so far was filling the stands with 50lbs each of clay kitty litter. I couldnt find dry playground sand.
There are NO pre-drilled holes for spikes. Id rather not drill holes into the speakers. I'd rather find something like the old MOD SQUAD tip toes for the speakers to rest on.....Unless there are other options.
In my bedroom HT System I used four strips of Bostik Blu Tack between the speaker and the stand... You can experiment with the amount and the location of the Blu Tack...
Very nice sonic improvement...
If this photo is one of your stands, they are very massive...
Looks like you broke into my house and took the picture!! BTW, are those Energy speakers beside the Tylers?
Thank you, I'll try the cheapest 1st! Although, it seems to be heavily favored for spikes (so far).
Thinner the better. Actually if you can make a layer less than 1mm and cover 100% of the stand top with it.
Making it even is a challenge. And splitting them after is a huge error.
So maybe try the blu tack in a less difficult manner. Then, if it IS the way to go,, try the ultra thin full coverage style.
