My dac has some form of likely junk small caps at 220pf,3900pf and 1000pf. People seemed to like the P series a lot but they are no longer available. I felt that things like MIAL styrenes were maybe too bright?? Any suggestions? Digikey is my go to supplier if possible. Tweaker

the upgrades you have done so far? Depending where they are in the DAC circuit, it may not even make a difference since you have upgraded so much already. There may be other areas in the system chain to start looking at now.
Yeah Cougar, You might be right. The dac has been a good excuse for not tackling the more difficult or risky stuff. But these last caps would be so easy I say why not? Love those Silmic II's. Vast improvement with them. Much bigger than the stacked film. Tweaker

with the Stable Platter technology to use as a Transport with my Musical Paradise MP-D1 24bit DAC with asynchronous. The DAC is really nice when streaming music from the internet but when I used my Sherbourn CD player there was something lacking even though I upgraded the CD player.
After I put I the Pioneer my CD section of my system sounds awesome and I now have no need to do anything else to the CD/Digital side of my system. So this is the example of what I mean there are other areas of the system to start looking into.
So my final DIY upgrade now is the speaker which I will be doing two sets of speakers. One will be the two way GPA (Altec) speakers with Zilch Z19 Xover and the other is a Small Line Array. Once those are completed, I'm done. No need to do any more to the system.
The preamp is a BAT VK-30 that is sounding awesome again after put some 6H23 tubes back in and the repair of my heater supply. That Preamp is just really nice so no need to mess with that.
My Amps (EDGE M8 and Counterpoint SA-12) have been fully upgraded so now need there.
All cables are DIY and sound awesome, so now I'm done with those too.
So these are just examples of where you need to look if haven't already. Your system will only be as good as the Front (sources) end will take it, so I would start to look there first. The DAC is set now. next up?
BTW, LINN recommends that starting with the Table/Cartridge > Phono preamp > CD Player > DAC > Preamp > Power amp > Speakers > Cables.
Hope this helps!
Thanks, I'm well aware of the issues. If I upgrade the front end I would like to find a machine that doesn't make the servo reset grinding noise at the end of the disk and is also super quiet during play. Not so easy to find or find at a sane price as far as I know at this point. Lost my job so I'll have more time to work on things and hopefully more energy. Silmic II rules. T
and all the Pioneer PD series with "Stable Platter" technology is known for that, being quiet during play and no loud resetting noise.
Glad you really like the Elna Silmics II's. Glad to have help in that part of the upgrades.
Cougar, So the PD-59 and it's cousins make zero noise after the last cut, it just spins till it stops? No noise or little noise? Thanks, Tweaker
and when the last cut is done I can't hear anything from my sitting position but if you are right up on the CD player you can faintly hear it when it's done. I mean very faintly to almost not hearing nothing. It's a very quiet cd player/transport.
