I know Robert Shaw uttered that line in "Jaws", but having just recently seen him as Henry VIII in "A Man for All Seasons", the quote seems so incongruous. I guess that's called "acting".
Follow Ups:
He buried himself in his roles. Ask Richard Dreyfuss--that combative Quint persona definitely spilled over into real life!
Haven't seen "A Man for All Seasons" in a long time. May have to check it out again.
"Back home, when we get a taxidermy man, he gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him!"
--Robert Shaw, "Jaws," 1975
The great British actors of the 40s, 50s, and 60s probably excelled most on the live stage. I saw Olivier play Othello in London and, years later, Nicol Williamson in "The Last Angry Man", also in London. These were unforgettable experiences. Robert Shaw was wasted in a few trivial but blockbuster movies, other than Jaws and Man for All Seasons, but he was up there in that category. For instance, he was the sinister assassin who fought to the death with Sean Connery as Bond, in a compartment on a train. I think it was either "Dr. No" or "From Russia.." The two of them did make the scene very real and visceral.Sorry this is very OT, but I do love movies.
I do look forward to your impression of the magnets and what they do or don't do.
